14 October 2023
The Kenya Palestine Solidarity Movement (KPSM) stands in unwavering solidarity with the legitimate and lawful Palestinian liberation struggle. We acknowledge the resilience of our sisters and brothers in Palestine and the need to address the ongoing oppression and human rights violations.
Palestine has endured over 75 years of occupation, ethnic cleansing, genocide, murder, apartheid, administrative detention, forced evictions, blockades, destruction of homes and farms, illegal settlements, and land grabbing. The injustices faced by Palestinians continue unabated, despite international law and United Nations resolutions.
In 1948, during the Nakba, approximately 700,000 Palestinians were uprooted from their homeland. Today, externally displaced Palestinians number around 6 million, and the right of return, as per UN Resolution 194 (iii), remains unfulfilled.
The recent Al Aqsa Flood attack by the Palestinian Resistance on October 7, 2023 has exposed the vulnerability of the Israeli regime, and labelling Palestinians as terrorists for exercising their right to resistance and self-defence is hypocritical. President Biden’s support for Israel only perpetuates these injustices, and the world must hold all perpetrators to account.
KPSM regards the Palestinian struggle as legitimate, similar to the Kenya land and freedom struggle and the Mau Mau freedom heroes and sheroes. Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. We call upon:
- The United Nations to take effective action against Israel and end another colonial apartheid state.
- Mainstream media to stop propagating colonisers’ narratives.
- African governments to publicly condemn Israel’s atrocities and revoke their observer status at the African Union (AU).
- KPSM members and supporters to remain steadfast in supporting our Palestinian brothers and sisters. Encourage religious leaders to speak out, engage with your political representatives to condemn Israeli actions, and continue raising awareness and advocating Palestinian rights until complete liberation is achieved.
Together, we stand against injustice and support the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom and self-determination.
